Possession Limits

  • Limited Access Permits
    • Tier 1: 200,000 lb
    • Tier 2: 135,000 lb
    • Tier 3: 100,000 lb
  • Open Access Permits
    • Category 4: 20,000 lb

In-Season Modification Phases

The fishery closure process is divided into three distinct phases based on the remaining quota

  1. Phase 1 (Start of Year)
    • Initial possession limits apply (see above).
  2. Phase 2 (Threshold: 1,100 mt remaining)
    • Limited Access (Tiers 1-3): Reduced to 20,000 lb
    • Open Access: Reduced to 5,000 lb
  3. Phase 3 (Threshold: 220 mt remaining)
    • Limited Access (Tiers 1-3): Reduced to 10,000 lb
    • Open Access: Reduced to 2,500 lb

In-season action is required to trigger the transition into Phase 2 and Phase 3.
