BHC VARCHAR2 Logical indicator column of whether the VTR indicated the catch was for either bait or home consumption. 0 = FALSE, 1 = TRUE.
SUBTRIP VARCHAR2 The subtrip number. The subtrip number is 1 for non-split trips (whole trip fished one area, gear, mesh). For split trips, the first subtrip is 1, the second is 2, the third is 3, etc.

SUBTRIP VARCHAR2 The subtrip number. The subtrip number is 1 for non-split trips (whole trip fished one area, gear, mesh). For split trips, the first subtrip is 1, the second is 2, the third is 3, etc.
TONCLASS VARCHAR2 The tonnage class code which defines the range of gross registered tons (GRT) for the vessel indicated. If last 2 digits = 00, the exact GRT and the sub-range of GRT is unknown.
TONCL1 VARCHAR2 The first digit of the tonnage class code.
TONCL2 VARCHAR2 The first two digits of the tonnage class code.
CREW NUMBER The number of crew (including captain) as reported on the VTR. Null for DLR Orphans.
STERN VARCHAR2 The stern indicator. For 1994-2019: 1 = gear is fished off stern (default); 0 = gear not fished off stern. Used in reporting landings to NAFO. Legacy Column. NULL for 2020+.
QTR VARCHAR2 The quarter of the calendar year in which the vessel landed or the dealer weighout occurred: 1=January-March; 2=April-June; 3=July-September; 4=October-December.
FZONE VARCHAR2 The fishing zone in which sample was taken as determined from the VTR trip point location. 0 = inside coastal boundary (NEMFIS only); 1 = within 3 miles of continental U.S.; 2 = between 3 and 12 miles off the continental U.S.; 3 = more than 12 miles off continental U.S.; 4 = off foreign shores or in international waters. blank/null=Unknown.
DA NUMBER For a trip, the total number of days absent from port in days as defined by TRUNC(date_land) - TRUNC(date_sail) + 1 (rounded to four decimal places). The value is estimated when missing (indicated by EFFORT_IMP column). For trips with multiple subtrips, DA is split proportional to the days fished (DF) for each subtrip. In the AA tables, for trips with catch sold to multiple dealers (multiple DOCN), DA for the subtrip is divided equally among transactions.
DF NUMBER The total number of days gear is actually fished during fishing trip, in days (rounded to four decimal places). Does not include steam time. Prorated for subtrips. Estimated when missing indicated by the EFFORT_IMP column. Not estimated for Permit = 000000. NULL = unknown.
NTRIPS NUMBER The proportional effort (DF) attributed to one row of CFDETT relative to the total trip effort. It starts with the proportional effort on each subtrip relative to the whole trip (DF[subtrip] / DF[trip]). This proportional effort is then divided by the number of rows of CFDETT for that subtrip (e.g. number of dealer weighout transactions, DOCN). NTRIPS sums to one over all rows associated with a trip. Non-federal permits (000000) have no reported VTR effort and NTRIPS is NULL.
TRPLNDLB NUMBER The live weight of catch landed of all species combined, in pounds, for the subtrip-transaction associated with 1 row of CFDETT table.
TRPLIVLB NUMBER The weight, in pounds, of total landed catch on the subtrip-transaction associated with 1 row of CFDETT table.
TRPVALUE NUMBER The total value of all species landed associated with the record (subtrip-transaction) in US dollars.
PERMIT_CLASS VARCHAR2 Based on VPS_PLAN for the permit: NOL = No Lobster Permit; LOP = Lobster permit and other federal permitted species; LOO = Lobster-only permit; NOP = no federal permitted species during the trip.
MAINSPP VARCHAR2 The main species sought in a fishing trip, found with an algorithm relating the percentage of a given species catch to total catch (live weight). If no species accounts for over 50%, species are grouped until a grouping accounts for over 50% uses NAFO Main Species Code. See CFDBS Main Species Table (MSPP) for actual codes.
MAIN_SPP_GRP VARCHAR2 The main species group caught in a fishing trip: species group with the largest percentage of the total catch (live weight) on the subtrip.
GEARQTY NUMBER Number of gear fished per haul. Unit determined by gear, i.e. Nets, Pots, Hooks, or Dredges. Taken directly from the VTR and NULL for DLR Orphans and permit 000000.
GEARSIZE NUMBER Size of gear fished. If several gear sizes fished, enter average gear size used per haul. Taken directly from the VTR and NULL for DLR Orphans.
MESH NUMBER The mesh size of gear used. Taken directly from the VTR and NULL for DLR Orphans.
MESH_CAT VARCHAR2 The category of mesh size of gear for trawls and gillnets. Mesh categorized as LM >= 4.00 inches and 4.00 > SM >= 0.00 inches. Additionally, for gillnets (NEGEAR: 100, 105, 115, 117, 116) mesh greater than or equal to 8.0 inches receive an XL classification. Mesh is imputed for gill nets and otter trawls, otherwise NULL if MESH not reported on the VTR.
NTOWS NUMBER Number of tows made during fishing trip as reported by the VTR. Unknown/Unreported = NULL.
TOWDUR NUMBER The duration of tow in hundredths of hours (two decimal places)as reported by the VTR. Unknown/Unreported = NULL.
DEPTH NUMBER The average depth to bottom, in fathoms, over the trip as reported on the VTR. NULL for DLR Orphans.

LATDEG VARCHAR2 Degrees latitude reported on the VTR. NULL for DLR Orphans.

TIMELOST NUMBER The total time lost during fishing, in tenths of days (one decimal place). Unknown=blank. Legacy column no longer collected on the VTR
TIMEDAY VARCHAR2 Legacy data; Set to 0; Not currently used.
